Hi Paul,
Of course you can try to adjust the fingering a bit if you really want to reach beyond the 12th fret or further.
You could also play a guitar with a cutaway, an electric guitar which has more fretboard reach or play
the scale shape in another key so you can still practice the scale shape/position. The key is not so important,
it’s more important you learn the scale position/shapes.

In reply to Jerry. Hi Jerry, you can play the lick in any key you like. If you move the entire lick down 7 frets you’re playing the lick in the key of A.

Questions: Is it typical to abandon the “1-finger per fret” approach as you play higher up the neck and if so, is there a general area of the fretboard where you would do this?
