Your article has many good points I enjoyed them all. The only problem I have is when you mentioned the pentatonic scale. You said most solos you hear in heavy metal are based on the pentatonic scale. While I’m sure you had good intentions that’s simply not true. It’s actually the other way around. Most of the solos you hear in heavy metal are a combo of melodic minor, natural minor and harmonic minor. The minor pentatonic used in blues is actually derived from these scales. So to say scales in metal are based off the pentatonic scale may be harmful to younger guitarists striving to solo in the metal style. Great article never the less.
