Hi Klaus,
Any comments on base guitars ?
I am new to guitars, and feel that bass is more like me.
Do you recommend to start learning on normal and then switch to bass ?
What about number of strings ? A lot of them are 4 string, why is that…..

My advice for ANY new player is to get the acoustic or electric guitar that you can afford with the best action. If it has crappy action that cannot be properly adjusted, you have to grip it like you’re lifting weights and instantly develop bad habits. I know this because I played on super crappy guitars for a couple years when I started out. I finally got an American Hamer Special and I had to unlearn a TON of bad habits.
People get worried about brands or tone, but I think if you’re just starting out and have $300 or $400 to spend, worry about playability above all else.

Hi, You guys really like dreadnaughts for your acoustic electric guitars. I started playing in the 60s on a Guild f-20 and a Gibson b-25 bodied 12 string. Both of those need to go in for some work. I am interested in an in expensive concert size acoustic electric to play while they are gone. You need to understand that the best guitar ever made was the 60sGuild F-30. I am not really making that claim. I am just showing where my preferences lie. Martin made some incredible concert size guitars that I just couldn’t afford. So, I saw the Fender FA-135CE Acoustic-Electric Guitar Natural for under $150 and thought “why not?” You guys praised some of the Fender dreadnaughts.

Does anyone have some advice for an old guy taking up the guitar again?
